For 2011 I have made a commitment to volunteer once a week. Throughout the year I will be sharing these experiences with you in the hope of inspiring you to step up your volunteer service as well.
More specifically I am focusing on two different areas. First, I would like to encourage volunteering among individuals who are out of work. This provides so many positive outcomes for both the volunteer and the benefiting organizations.

The other area that I am focusing on is working with companies to encourage them to offer service days where their employees are encouraged to help charities and nonprofits in their community. Studies have shown that companies that offer such programs increase employee retention and foster intra-company communication.
